Last of the gig survey: significant gigs?

The final part of our gig survey… we asked Feature Creep if there were any other significant gigs they wanted to reminisce about. (Sheila decided she’d reminisced enough already by this point!)

Andy: Ben Folds Five at The Albert Hall and Daft Punk at The Wireless Festival were both scientific studies in how to whip a crowd up.

Graham:

  • 1980 The Stranglers @ The Rainbow 1st of the 100+ [editor's note: ... as in, yep, he's seen the Stranglers over 100 times. Dedicated chap.]
  • 1986 Queen @ Wembley the legendary FM
  • 1988 Royal Albert Hall Siouxsie & the Banshees
  • 1999 Wembley Stadium Rolling Stones
  • 2009 O2 Muse
  • 2010 Wembley Stadium Oasis supported by Kasabian

Vernon: too many to mention, but love every gig I’ve ever been to by The Drive-by-Truckers, The Hives and AC/DC.

Joe:

  • My first ever performance at Keele University 82.
  • Lots at the Hacienda club in Manchester in the 80s.
  • Orange Juice at Keele University early 80s.
  • Edwyn Collins – somewhere in London in the 80s, and spent the night with him, chatting and drinking beer.
  • Iggy Pop at the Brixton Academy, several times.
  • Pixies at the Brixton Academy – went backstage to meet the band afterwards.
  • The Smiths – don’t remember when or where.
  • Bowie at Knebworth – not a good Bowie phase, but nice to see him in action.
  • My son’s band, May Contain Nuts, at Guilfest 2011.
  • The Vaccines, Brighton, 2012.
  • Some guy who didn’t announce his name and nobody has ever heard of at an open mike session in East London.

Mel: not one single gig, but the time around Christmas 1985 (… at least, I think it was 1985…) I went to something like ten gigs in three weeks. Good times. Other than that: Howard Jones at the Royal Albert Hall in 1985, supported by Strawberry Switchblade, ah, those were the days. Quo at Wembley Arena a few years ago when, due to bits of Ticketmaster’s system being broken, we wound up in the front row (damn me, was that loud). U2 in, er, Cleveland. (No, not the one in the north of England.) Glastonbury 2010 – first time I’d been. And Feature Creep’s first gig (natch).

And now… back to our own gigs!
